| The Leamington & Warwick Academy of Dance merges with the Oakley School of Dance From January 1st 2012 these two pestigious schools became one. Both schools had been providing the RAD Ballet syllabus, training many dancers to professional levels. The merger will see the introduction to LWAD of the American Tap syllabus (ISTD) and the Oakley students will have access to many more classes. The Oakley School was established by Miss Probert in the 1940s and then taken on by Mrs Barbara O'Rourke (one of her own pupils). This mirrors the journey of LWAD which was originally know as the Linden School established by Miss Thorpe in the 1940s and then taken on by Mrs Katherine Knight (one of Miss Thorpe's pupils). Now these 2 long-established schools unite under one banner. Katherine Knight and Vivienne Kibble will remain as the LWAD principals and Barbara O'Rourke will join the teaching faculty, bringing with her many years of experience and dediaction. The school will retain both logos to reflect their dual heritage and will continue to provide the best possible training for dancers and performers of all ages.
